Welcome to Southwest Freeride!

Southwest Freeride is a new site dedicated to skiing and snowboarding in the southwest USA.  We are based in Albuquerque, New Mexico and cover resorts in New Mexico, Colorado, Arizona, Utah, Nevada, and California.  The aim of this site is two-fold.  First, to provide a single source for information about winter sports in the region for locals and visitors.  And secondly, to provide skiers, boarders, shops, resorts, and ski clubs a free resource for information sharing, event promotion, advertising, organizing and more.

Oh, and the name, Southest Freeride.  This site is for ALL snow riders!  As in - everyone is free to ride however they choose to ride around here!

Why should I register and contribute?

Skier, boarder: Southwest Freeride is a free resource where skiers and boarders can consolidate and share all of their winter-sports related media and blogging.  It's crazy easy to share your stuff on this site with Facebook or elsewhere.  You can even setup the Twitter plug-in on this site so that your SWFreeride status updates are sent to your Twitter account.

What do I get with my free registration?

  • Free blogging with your own personal URL to your blog - with one of the slickest blogger interfaces around for easy blogging!
  • Unlimited video uploads directly to the site or link and embed from other video sites.
  • Unlimited picture uploads.
  • Free private and public groups - create a group for your ski buddies, your region, favorite resort, club, whatever.
  • Eligibility for discounts and contest give-aways.

Resort or other business:  SWFreeride is a free, non-profit, regional, community web site dedicated to alpine winter sports.  By linking to it from your resort or business site, you can help build a solid, loyal following in a much more focused and regional approach than the saturated and fragmented world of Facebook and Twitter.  The best way to get started is to create and mange your own group.  Every time you post something to the group your members will receive an email telling them you have posted an update.  All businesses that actively use the site also get free ad placement on the front page that link back to your main site.  In addition, the "myTwitterupdates" application will tweet your SWfreeride status.  You can feed your Facebook status from twitter.  That makes it super easy to update all three social networking sites and your followers via a single, winter sports focused site.

Clubs:  Why spend valuable time and resources on building and maintaining a web site?  You can use this site to create and manage a private, invite only club group for free.  That gives you more time and resources for on-mountain activities.

Everyone:  It's local!  Support the local scene and get support from a local.  You can talk to a real person when you need it.  Active users and businesses can influence the direction of the site.  Can you say that about the big, corporate sites?

Go to the home page and click "Join Us Now" to register. Once registered, you can create your own groups, post pictures and video, start blogging, and get to know other skiers and boarders in your neck of the woods.

Cheers,

Southwest Freeride
